Bed & Breakfast

The Victorian Vicarage only has three beautifully appointed rooms available, therefore ensuring a real home from home feel.

Unlike some bed and breakfast establishments, you are welcome to spend your time here relaxing in your surroundings, morning coffee and light lunches and afternoon teas available by arrangement. However, we doubt you will be able to resist the lure of the moors or the charms of Tavistock.

All rooms have new VI spring luxury mattresses with medium springing. Anti - allergy duvets and pillows, top quality white pure cotton bed linen, from 500 to 1000 thread count (sheets and blankets available if requested at time of booking), soft white cotton bath sheets, hand towels and face cloths, hair dryers, dab clock radios and a beautiful bone china tea set to enjoy the complimentary selection of teas, bed time drinks, a cafetiere for fresh coffee, fresh milk, homemade biscuits and fresh flowers with complimentary soap from the Dartmoor Soap Company. Irons, ironing boards and hot water bottles available on request.

We aim to offer guests peace and serenity therefore have decided not to furnish bedrooms with a television, however you will find one in the parlour should you want to watch a programme or a DVD and there is WIFI.

The Guest Parlour and Dining Room

B&B Guest Parlour

The parlour at the Victorian Vicarage is a large sunny room with a huge bay window and large open fire. Lavishly decorated in Victorian style with deep colours, rich velvets and paintings. It offers guests an elegant yet cosy room in which to relax. Here you will find a collection of vintage books on Dartmoor and the surrounding area to browse along with antiquarian books. There is a television with DVD player and radiogram which guests are welcome to use.

This is a lovely place to wind down after an exciting day with a complimentary glass of sherry, or perhaps read your daily paper after breakfast or simply to take tea and scones by the fire. You will also find a selection of vintage games along with more modern games. Write your postcards seated at the Davenport and recreate the nostalgic memories of yesteryears.

B&B Guest Dining Room

The dining room is another sunny room with a huge original Victorian fireplace. There is a choice of tables so we can accommodate your preference of either an intimate table for two or to be seated as a part of a larger table. Paintings and a beautiful Morris tapestry adorn the walls and outside is the terrace garden from where you may smell the delicate perfume of roses on a summer breeze and spot the different varieties of birds including robins, blue tits, bullfinches, coal tits, wrens, goldfinches, chaffinches or linnets and if you are lucky the little resident vole or hedgehog. At night you may hear the tawny owl who nests in the old beech tree behind the house.
